High-level champion for climate action

Named high-level champion for climate action by the British prime minister in 2020, Nigel Topping stimulates different actors in coordination with governments and signatory members of the UNFCCC to slow global change.

The role of high-level champions is to strengthen collaboration and stimulate action by businesses, investors, organizations, cities and regions to curb climate change. It coordinates these actions with governments and signatory members of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Nigel works alongside Chile’s high-profile climate action champion, Gonzalo Muñoz.

Nigel Topping was the CEO of We Mean Business, a conglomerate of companies working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy. Previously, he was Executive Director of the Carbon Disclosure Project, following an 18-year career in the private sector.
