Biography

At ADEME, the French agency for ecological transition, Mathieu Garnero is the Director of the Finance ClimAct project, contributing to the implementation of France’s National Low Carbon Strategy and the European Union’s Sustainable Finance Action Plan.

A graduate statistician, Mathieu Garnero joined Société Générale in 2004, where he developed an expertise in modeling and risk management for credit activities, before becoming, in 2011, Deputy Head of the internal models teams for market operations (counterparty and market risk).

Mathieu Garnero then made a professional reorientation, after which he earned a degree in sociological and economic issues related to the environment.

He joined the research and foresight department of ADEME, the French agency for ecological transition, in 2019, where he worked on the inclusion of financing issues in the ThreeME macroeconomic model before taking over the management of a European project (LIFE) on sustainable finance led by a consortium of French actors.
