Xavier BERTRAND

Biography

Xavier BERTRAND was born on March 21, 1965, in Châlons-sur-Marne. He was an insurance agent before being a politician. Elected as a member of Parliament for the second constituency of Aisne in 2002, he was re-elected for three new terms (2007, 2009-2010, 2012-2015). He was appointed Minister of Health (2005-2007), Minister of Labour (2007-2009) and Minister of Labour, Employment and Health (2010-2012) of the French government. In 2010, he was elected Mayor of Saint-Quentin.

The day before his election as President of the Hauts-de-France Regional Council on January 4, 2016, he announced that he would resign from his duties as Member of Parliament for the Aisne region and Mayor of Saint-Quentin to “devote himself fully to the region”.
