Mr. BA Amath, in charge of strategic thinking and international relations, has been associated with the Senegal CSR Initiative since its inception. He is also the master of ceremonies and moderator of the Dakar International Forum on CSR, and a trainer.
Created in 2008 by Mr. Philippe Barry, former Permanent Secretary of the association that brings together industries and mines in Senegal, the Senegal CSR Initiative is a private initiative aimed at promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among businesses in Senegal and in the West African countries.
The CSR Initiative is guided by a vision that the development of Africa will happen through the promotion of local resources (local skills and products) and that every company in West Africa should in the framework of CSR, design a community project for sustainable development.
Activist for a better popularization of CSR in West Africa, the Senegal CSR Initiative is supported by a network of private companies (Senegal CSR network) and by institutional partners (embassies of CANADA and the Netherlands, AFD, Institute of Environmental Sciences (ISE) of the University of Dakar, National Council of Senegalese employers).
The first initiative of its kind in West Africa, it has to its credit the organization of the “International Forum on CSR in Senegal”, which is now in its 10th edition (2009 to 2018) (www.forumrsesn.org), creation of a website on corporate CSR practices (www.rsesenegal.com), a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/RSE.Senegal), publication of an electronic newsletter on monitoring and information on CSR, conducting conferences and training courses on CSR in Senegal and West Africa.
