Biography
Since 2011, Ignacio Larraechea is the General Manager of Accion Empresas, a foundation that brings together more than 150 companies committed to sustainable development.
Ignacio is an economist graduate from the University of Chile (BA in Economic Sciences) and holds a PhD in Social Work from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. He has developed his professional career exerting managerial positions in the public and private sector.
From 1996 to 2000, he was National Director of SENCE and previously served as advisor to the “Chile Joven” Program from the Ministry of Labor and as Director of Evaluation at FOSIS. Between 2007 and 2010, he worked at ENAP (National Petroleum Company) where he served as Director of Human Resources Development
Ignacio was also Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of the Central University in 2010 and Rector of that same University in 2011. He was chair of Labor Economics and Management of People and currently teaches the course “Business and sustainable development” at the Economic and Business School of the University of Chile.
Over the years, he was also the director of several social institutions and is the host of CNN Chile’s “Francamente” and develops and active role as a spokesperson on sustainable development issues through columns in the press and radio and television interviews.
