Luvuyo Rani is an entrepreneur, co-founder and Managing Director of Silulo Ulutho Technologies (South Africa).
The Cape Town-based company Silulo operates IT stores and training centers in townships and rural areas throughout South Africa, providing job opportunities for unemployed youth. Its slogan:
connecting people, through knowledge and empowerment!
As a teacher of Business Studies at Kwa-Mfundo Secondary School, Luvuyo Rani realized that there was a huge need for computers. He resigned from his teaching post and started selling refurbished computers to the teachers. Later on, he decided to start teaching people how to use these computers. Silulo was born. Luvuyo Rani has been awarded the Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2016, during the World Economic Forum Africa meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.
