Biography

Luis Fierro is an international development economist, with experience in Sustainable Development, Project & Climate Finance. He is the Programme Manager for Activities with Economic and Business Partners at the EU-LAC Foundation. Before, he was Climate Finance Adviser at AILAC, negotiating the Paris Agreement. Previously, held several positions at the Inter-American Development Bank. Economist degree from the Catholic University of Ecuador; graduate degrees in Development, International Economics and Environmental Economics from the U. of Oregon and the U. of Texas at Austin. Has written, edited and translated books, strategies; journal, magazine and newspaper articles; and fiction.

The European Union – Latin America and Caribbean Foundation (EU-LAC Foundation)

The European Union – Latin America and Caribbean Foundation (EU-LAC Foundation). was created in 2010 by the Heads of State and Government of the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) member states. Its Members are the Member states of the EU and CELAC as well as the EU itself. The Foundation is a tool of the EU-LAC partnership and its activities feed into the inter-governmental dialogue, in line with the bi-regional Action Plan.

The EU-LAC Foundation was entrusted with the mission of strengthening and promoting the strategic bi-regional relationship, enhancing its visibility and fostering active participation of the respective civil societies. Among the issues the Foundation has promoted, are the bi-regional dialogue on Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Development Goals and Circular Economy.
