Damien CASTELAIN, President of the MÉTROPOLE EUROPÉENNE DE LILLE
There’s no need to introduce World Forum for a Responsible Economy any more. For 12 years now, it has been bringing together experts, guest speakers and all those on the path to a development that is more respectful of resources and people. Metropolitan-elected representatives are amongst them. It is thus only natural that Lille Metropole is once again supporting this international event, together with the organisers Réseau Alliances.
Throughout history, urban centres have been incubators of progress and innovation. In response to the challenges now faced by our planet, metropolises are obliged to be drivers of new urban planning and promoters of different, pacified, more economical lifestyles. And today, whatever the scope for action, Lille Metropole intends to provide guidance to all the stakeholders in its region to encourage the development of an even more responsible local and regional economy. In a world where competition between regions is fierce, Lille Metropole has undeniable assets: transport and mobility, agriculture, digital technology… Across all projects and in all programmes, it has managed to develop new methods to meet the challenges and legitimate expectations of inhabitants. Together with its partners and all regional stakeholders, it must now seize the opportunities that arise.
