Speaker Louis FAURE
Louis Faure lives since 2014 in the GK Enchanted Farm in the Philippines, where he started a social enterprise called FreeBirds, providing urban areas with high quality pasture chickens raised by a network of integrated small-scale farms.
After a two-year gap in the Philippines, Louis is completing his master’s degree in HEC Paris, before returning to the Philippines early 2017. Back in his undergrad years in HEC, as part of a growing community of students passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation, he got familiar with the work of the NGO Gawad Kalinga and its new approach to social entrepreneurship. That was enough for him to intern in the Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm, hub for social entrepreneurship in South-East Asia. Looking for challenging experiences, knowing nothing about agriculture, he joined a team developing a 1 hectare model farm pilot, with the ambition to mitigate urban migration by building proofs of concept that there is wealth in the countryside. Seeing the potential of such project and finding his passion in agriculture, he decided to extend his stay from 6 months to 2 years… until he made the choice to settle in and build his future in the Philippines as a farmer, a social entrepreneur and a Gawad Kalinga advocate.
