Biography

Monique Leroux is President and CEO of Desjardins Group since 2008, the second most sustainable cooperative in Canada according to Corporate Knights magazine. An accountant at Ernst & Young for 17 years, she made her entry into the financial world as Vice-President of the Royal Bank for Quebec. After a brief stint at Quebecor, company specialized in the field of mass communications, she started working at Desjardins Group. In less than 10 years, she rose through the ranks to her current position. Since her election, Desjardins has accumulated successes: in 2014, the financial group was ranked second among the World's Strongest Banks by Bloomberg. The 5th cooperative financial institution in the world has more than $230 billion in total assets, and more than 7 million members and 45 000 employees. For the fiscal year 2014, Desjardins Group accounted for 82.3 million dollars in community support (grants, donations and sponsorships). Monique Leroux is a member of the Order of Canada and officer of the National order of Quebec.
