Speaker Michel DOUCIN

Biography

Michel Doucin has been the French ambassador for bioethics and corporate social responsibility. As a career diplomat, he previously had responsibilities in international cooperation policy, especially as Deputy Director of International Cooperation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1987-1989) and general Secretary of the High Council of International Cooperation to the Prime Minister (1999-2002).
He was detached from the Department of Foreign Affairs as regional director of the Cultural Affairs of Aquitaine (1983-1985) and Chargé de mission at the Delegation of Regional Planning (1986-1987).
He was General Consul in Germany, Italy and Naples, Mainz. He was also the French Ambassador for Human Rights and notably negotiated the additional protocol to the Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights that France has recently signed.
As ambassador in charge of bioethics and CSR he actively participated in the ISO 26 000 standard, updated OECD guidelines for multinational companies and contributed to the creation of United Nations guidelines for Business and Human Rights, as well as to the preparation of the Communication of the European Commission on CSR in October 2011.
