Biography
A chartered accountant and statutory auditor, Jean-Pierre Letartre joined the audit firm Ernst & Young in 1985 before being appointed Chairman and CEO of the group in 2008. Very much involved in promoting entrepreneurship in France, Jean-Pierre LETARTRE assumed the leadership of the Centre des jeunes dirigeants of the Nord region (a movement gathering young entrepreneurs) in 1989. In 1993, he established the Entrepreneur de l’année (entrepreneur of the year) award and in 1996 the Académie des entrepreneurs (entrepreneurs' academy) for business leaders to meet. In 1999, he published his first book Qu'attendez-vous pour entreprendre ? ("what are you waiting for to become an entrepreneur?") before writing L’ambition de grandir, paroles d’entrepreneurs ("the ambition to grow—words of entrepreneurs") with the MEDEF (a network of French companies) in 2006. In 2007 he co-founded Citizen Entrepreneurs, an association with global outreach which organises the entrepreneurs' G20 every year. Having been a member of the Entrepreneurs, entreprises et société (entrepreneurs, companies and society) committee of MEDEF for several years, he joined MEDEF's executive board in 2013 and led the France 2020 project to outline the prospects for our economy.
As head of a major international company, Jean-Pierre LETARTRE has always felt strongly about promoting a new vision of social responsibility and has implemented many measures in favour of the environment, diversity and gender equality.
His deep understanding of the business world, his social and regional commitment as Chairman of the Comité Grand Lille (a committee gathering all kind of players committed to make Lille a major metropolis), offer Jean-Pierre LETARTRE a unique viewpoint of the economic activity of our region. It is therefore quite naturally that he succeeded Philippe Vasseur in January 2019 and took over the chair of Réseau Alliances.
