Speaker Jean Marc BOURNIGAL

Biography

A graduate from the National Veterinary School of Toulouse and the National School of Veterinary Services, Jean-Marc Bournigal, 49 years old, has devoted his entire career to agriculture and food issues, and also has experience in European dynamics.

From 1995 to 1997, he serves as adviser to the cabinet of Philippe Vasseur, then Minister of Agriculture, and undertakes several missions in France and abroad. Inspector General of veterinary public health, he becomes in 2002 delegate for agricultural affairs at the French Permanent Representation to the European Union.

In 2006, he is appointed as Director General for Food (DGAL) within the Ministry of Agriculture. Then in 2009, he is appointed Director General for food and agricultural policies and territories (DGPAAT) where he manages the Cemagref research programs (now Irstea).

In 2010, Minister Bruno LeMaire nominates him as Director of Cabinet.
